At our Revitalise Medical Clinic in Alton we use the FDA‑approved SkinPen® device which safely and effectively improves skin texture, reduces scars, and minimises signs of ageing. It's widespread appeal comes from its versatility and clinically proven results.
How does SkinPen microneedling work?
SkinPen® microneedling is an advanced, minimally invasive treatment that uses a handheld device equipped with fine, sterile needles to create controlled microchannels on the surface of the skin. These tiny channels stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing response, with visible improvements in skin texture, fine lines and scars.

Who is it suitable for?
SkinPen is suitable for most skin types and tones, making it a versatile option for a wide range of patients. It is particularly effective for individuals who want to improve skin quality without undergoing surgery or using harsh chemicals.
It is not recommended for individuals with active wounds or infection, active cancer, keloid scarring, bleeding disorders, collagen vascular disease, those within six months of Roaccutane, anyone with a stainless‑steel allergy, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. There are often alternative suitable treatments available so please contact us to discuss this further.
A comprehensive medical consultation will be conducted prior to treatment to ensure there are no health conditions that could affect your suitability for treatment.
What happens during the appointment?
All Revitalise Medical microneedling treatments begin with a detailed pre‑treatment consultation. A topical numbing cream is applied for comfort, after which the pen is gently moved across the treatment area, producing only a mild vibration. The procedure typically lasts 30–60 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated. You may notice slight redness or swelling, similar to a mild sunburn, which usually subsides within a day or two.
Visible improvements emerge within a few weeks as collagen production increases. Optimal skin‑rejuvenation results typically appear after a course of three to six sessions spaced about four weeks apart.
Post-treatment advice
Your doctor will supply the post‑procedure skincare products you need for a smooth recovery.
- For the first 24 hours, apply LIFT Gel only, and rinse with cool water if necessary—use no other skincare products during this time.
- After 24 hours, introduce RESCUE Calming Complex as needed to soothe and calm the skin.
- Stay out of the sun on treatment day and wait 24 hours before applying sunscreen; then minimise sun exposure for the next 72 hours.
- Avoid strenuous activity and sweating for 72 hours to prevent irritation.
- Skip active skincare ingredients—such as retinoids or vitamin C serums—for one week.
