Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore volume, smooth fine lines, and enhance facial contours.
They are usually made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound in the skin. Fillers are commonly used to address signs of aging, especially in the lower face, such as lines between the nose and mouth, sagging, and hollow areas under the eyes or in the cheeks. They can also be used for cosmetic enhancements, such as lip augmentation or defining facial features like the jawline and chin.
Fillers work by adding deep volume or by plumping the skin, giving it a more youthful and fuller appearance. The effects are immediate and typically last from six months to over a year, depending on the type of filler used. They are a minimally invasive option for those seeking non‑surgical facial rejuvenation with natural‑looking results and little downtime.
As we age, changes occur at every facial layer—including the bones, facial fat pads, muscles, ligaments, and skin. After a detailed facial assessment to pinpoint areas of volume loss, specific dermal filler formulations can be chosen to target each layer precisely.
Dermal filler treatments rejuvenate both the upper face and lower face, addressing the temples, cheeks, nasolabial lines (nose‑to‑mouth folds), marionette lines (mouth corners), smile lines, chin, and jawline.
They are also ideal for lip enhancement. Over time, lips become thinner, develop fine lines, and lose their contour. Strategic dermal filler injections can augment thin lips, replace lost volume, create a defined lip border, and help lift the corners of the mouth, restoring a naturally more youthful appearance.
In experienced hands, dermal fillers are considered very safe, but it’s essential to select a suitably qualified and reputable practitioner.
Potential risks of dermal fillers include bruising, infection, or lumps arising from product placement or an immune reaction. In rare cases, fillers can affect blood flow in the treated area, which is why your injector must have an in‑depth knowledge of facial anatomy. During your consultation, we will discuss treatment risks in detail, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and feel fully informed before proceeding.
All Revitalise Medical treatments begin with a detailed pre-treatment consultation. Your consultation starts with a discussion with the doctor about the look you wish to achieve. Your doctor will advise which dermal filler treatments will be most effective in reaching towards your goals. They review your medical history, and carry out a careful facial assessment.
If you decide to proceed, the dermal filler is gently injected using a fine needle or a cannula. Your doctor will customise the exact depth and number of injections to produce the most effective result.
The entire procedure takes about 30–60 minutes and the results are immediately visible. Most clients can resume their normal activities right after treatment.
In the days following, you may experience mild redness or swelling, which usually settles within 1–2 days. Occasionally, bruising can occur at the injection site. After treatment, avoid touching or rubbing the area, keep your hands clean. Refrain from wearing make‑up for 24 hours. For one week, avoid facials, waxing, massages, or any treatments that might disturb the product. Also avoid intense heat—sunbeds, saunas, strong sunlight—for 7 days, and postpone laser treatments in the treated area for 4 weeks.
Please discuss any history of cold sores. We may advise you to take preventative treatment in some cases.
We do not advise treatment in the days immediately before or after immunisation, illness or dental treatment including hygienist appointments. Please contact us in advance to discuss this in more detail.
